Cherry Blossoms

Japanese people LOVE cherry blossoms.
They are pink or really light pink in color.
They bloom in the beginning of the spring season every year.
Japanese people go crazy over them.

They report when cherry blossoms are expected to fully bloom in each region in major news programs every day in the cherry blossom season.

Cherry blossoms are “sakura” in Japanese.
Sakura is Japan’s floral emblem along with mums.

Sakura season is spring, and spring is the beginning of the school and business year in Japan.
Therefore, the sakura flowers are the symbol of “new beginning”.
Japanese people celebrate “the new beginning” under the trees of fully bloomed sakura flowers with food and drinks.
New members to a company or a club are asked to join and meet the whole group to get to know each other.
