Medical Interpreter

Since not all the medical staff can speak English comfortably in Japan, international travelers might want to look into getting some help from medical interpreters when visiting a hospital.

You want to make sure that you convey your message on what your symptoms are and what you need from your doctor correctly.

You might have an allergy, or you might be taking some other medication and want to make sure that a new medicine will not do any harm.

You also want to make sure that you fully understand what your doctor and nurse are telling you.

There should not be any confusion!!!

There are trained professional medical interpreters in Japan who specialize in assisting international guests in medical settings.

Even if you know some basic Japanese language, you might be surprised at how different it is to communicate in a hospital setting.
First of all, if you are going to see a doctor, you are probably not in your best condition.
You might have discomfort or even pain somewhere in your body.3

You might have to explain what kind of pain you have…
Do you think you can do that in Japanese?
Or, do you think you can make yourself understood in English???

If you have a friend or someone you can trust, and he/she can come along to your doctor’s appointment, that would be great!

If not, medical interpreters might be your great friends!
